There are certain legal matters that we are aware of as professional event suppliers. Some key issues are listed below, but this is not intended to be an exhaustive list.

Licensing and copyright

We are aware of licensing and copyright laws regarding the use of recorded music for public entertainment, and the licensing requirements of PRS for Music and Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL).

Electricity at Work Regulations – Portable Appliance Testing

Electrical safety regulations require us to keep any electrical equipment that could potentially cause injury in a safe condition at all times. Portable Appliance Testing is a good way of ensuring that all of our portable electrical appliances (a large amount of our equipment) are regularly checked for safety. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) publishes a number of helpful leaflets on Portable Appliance Testing that can be downloaded for free from the HSE website.

General health and safety legislation

Health and safety legislation can apply to every aspect of the events industry. It requires that we take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of our customers and any other members of the public. We may share responsibility for health and safety with the owners of the venues. We take particular care with loose leads and wires, hot equipment like lights, and anything that people could trip over in the dark or in low light levels.

As an event service provider, we have familiarised ourselves with consumer protection legislation and as such have made sure that our advertising does not give a misleading impression of our services.
